STAMFORD, Conn. – April 23, 2015 – The (3) Chicago Blackhawks and (3) Calgary Flames can advance in the Western Conference bracket and join the Anaheim Ducks in the second round with Game 5 wins tonight, highlighting a pair of doubleheaders on NBCSN and CNBC on Day 8 of NBC Sports Group’s comprehensive coverage of the 2015 Stanley Cup Playoffs

Jonathan Toews and the Blackhawks will look to punch their ticket to the second round tonight with a Game 5 win over Pekka Rinne and the (2) Nashville Predators at 9:30 p.m. ET on NBCSN. The nightcap of CNBC’s doubleheader also features an elimination game, as Ryan Miller and the (2) Vancouver Canucks look to stay alive against Johhny Gaudreau and the Flames, trailing Calgary 3-1 in their first-round series.

Coverage begins with a pair of 7 p.m. ET matchups on NBCSN and CNBC. Alex Ovechkin and the (2) Washington Capitals host John Tavares and (3) New York Islanders in a pivotal Game 5 on CNBC, with their series tied at two games apiece. NBCSN’s coverage begins at 7 p.m. ET, featuring Pavel Datsyuk and the (3) Detroit Red Wings against Steven Stamkos and the (2) Tampa Bay Lightning in Game 4 of their series, as Detroit leads Tampa Bay 2-1.

NHL Live begins at 6 p.m. ET on NBCSN, hosted by Liam McHugh with analysts and former players Jeremy Roenick and Keith Jones. Host Dave Briggs will anchor CNBC’s studio coverage alongside analyst and former player Anson Carter.
GAME 4 – (2) LIGHTNING-(3) RED WINGS – TONIGHT AT 7 P.M. ET ON NBCSN – RED WINGS LEAD 2-1

Steven Stamkos and the Tampa Bay Lightning look to even their first-round series tonight against the Red Wings, with Detroit currently holding a 2-1 series edge. The Red Wings took Game 3 with a 3-0 shutout win, led by 22 saves by goaltender Petr Mrazek and Pavel Datsyuk’s second goal of the series.

John Forslund (play-by-play) and Andy Brickley (Inside-the-Glass analyst) will call the action from Joe Louis Arena in Detroit, Mich.

 


GAME 5 – (3) ISLANDERS-(2) CAPITALS – TONIGHT AT 7 P.M. ET ON CNBC – SERIES TIED 2-2

The Islanders and Capitals face off in a pivotal Game 5 matchup at 7 p.m. ET on CNBC, with their series deadlocked at two games apiece. The two teams split a pair of overtime affairs at Nassau Coliseum, as the Caps tied the series at two with a 2-1 win in Game 4, capped by Nicklas Backstrom’s game-winner 11:09 into overtime.

Kenny Albert (play-by-play) and Emmy Award-winner Pierre McGuire will have the call from the Verizon Center in downtown Washington, D.C.
GAME 5 – (3) BLACKHAWKS-(2) PREDATORS – TONIGHT AT 9:30 P.M. ET ON NBCSN – BLACKHAWKS LEAD 3-1

The Blackhawks look to finish off the Predators tonight in their first-round series, holding a 3-1 advantage over the Preds heading into tonight’s game in Nashville. The Blackhawks won both games in Chicago to take control of the series, including their Game 4 victory in triple overtime, capped by Brent Seabrook’s game-winner. Chicago goaltender Scott Darling made 50 saves in Game 4, and has stopped 127 of 131 shots in his three appearances.

Gord Miller (play-by-play) and Joe Micheletti (Inside-the-Glass analyst) will have the call from Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tenn.

 


GAME 5 – (3) FLAMES-(2) CANUCKS – TONIGHT AT 10 P.M. ET ON CNBC – FLAMES LEAD 3-1

Ryan Miller and the Vancouver Canucks look to stave off elimination at home with a Game 5 win over Johnny Gaudreau and the Calgary Flames at 10 p.m. ET on CNBC. The Flames outscored the Canucks 7-3 in their wins in Games 3 and 4 in Calgary, leading to Ryan Miller’s start in net for Vancouver tonight. The three-time U.S. Olympic goaltender has 54 starts in his NHL playoff career, and will make his first postseason start as a Canuck tonight with Vancouver on the brink of elimination.

Jim Hughson, Craig Simpson and Scott Oake will call the action from Rogers Arena in Vancouver, B.C.

If tonight’s Lightning-Red Wings game on NBCSN runs past 9:45 p.m. ET, into the start of Blackhawks-Predators, puck drop of Blackhawks-Predators will be shown live on NHL Network until Lightning-Red Wings has concluded. Blackhawks-Predators will return to NBCSN immediately following the conclusion of Lightning-Red Wings.

If tonight’s Islanders-Capitals game on CNBC runs past 10:15 p.m. ET, into the start of Flames-Canucks, puck drop of Flames-Canucks will be shown live on NHL Network until Islanders-Capitals has concluded. Flames-Canucks will return to CNBC immediately following the conclusion of Islanders-Capitals.
