STAMFORD, Conn. – March 17, 2015 – NBC Sports Group’s NHL coverage features potential Stanley Cup Playoff matchups this week, beginning on NBCSN’s Wednesday Night Rivalry, when Jonathan Toews and the Chicago Blackhawks visit Rick Nash and the New York Rangers at 8 p.m. ET. Coverage continues at 10:30 p.m. ET, when Ryan Getzlaf and the Anaheim Ducks host Jonathan Quick and the Los Angeles Kings on NBCSN’s Wednesday Nightcap.
Sunday’s coverage begins at Noon ET with NBC’s NHL Game of the Week, when T.J. Oshie and the St. Louis Blues travel to Detroit to face Jimmy Howard and the Detroit Red Wings. NBCSN showcases the Eastern and Western Conference leaders on Sunday night, when the Rangers host the Ducks at 7:30 p.m. ET. This week’s coverage kicks off tonight at 7:30 p.m. ET on NBCSN, when Milan Lucic and the Boston Bruins host Brian Gionta and the Buffalo Sabres.
In addition to its NHL coverage, NBCSN will provide live coverage of the Hockey East Tournament this weekend, featuring top NHL prospect Jack Eichel and the top-seeded Boston University Terriers facing the eighth-seeded New Hampshire Wildcats Friday night at 8 p.m. ET. Coverage begins at 5 p.m. ET when the No. 4 UMass Lowell River Hawks face off against the No. 7 Vermont Catamounts. NBCSN will provide live coverage of the Hockey East championship on Saturday night at 7 p.m. ET.
NHL Live, NBCSN’s pre- and post-game NHL studio show, begins one hour prior to puck drop tonight and Wednesday, and a half hour prior to Ducks-Rangers on Sunday. Liam McHugh, Kathryn Tappen and Dave Briggs will host this week’s coverage alongside analysts and former players Mike Milbury, Keith Jones, Jeremy Roenick and Anson Carter. NHL insider Bob McKenzie will join NBCSN’s Wednesday Night Rivalry coverage to provide the latest in-depth news from around the league.
WEDNESDAY NIGHT RIVALRY – BLACKHAWKS-RANGERS – WEDNESDAY NIGHT AT 8 P.M. ET ON NBCSN
The Rangers host the Blackhawks on Wednesday Night Rivalry, as Chicago looks to slow down the hottest team in the NHL. New York (44-17-7, 95 pts) currently leads the Eastern Conference, and has posted an impressive 18-2-3 record in its last 23 games. The Rangers are led by Rick Nash’s 39 goals, tied for second-most in the NHL this year, as well as goaltender Cam Talbot, who has posted a 14-2-3 record since Henrik Lundqvist suffered a neck injury last month. Talbot has allowed just three goals in his last four starts, including a shutout in a 1-0 overtime victory at Chicago on March 8.
Chicago (41-21-6, 88 pts) sits in third place in the Central Division, behind Nashville and St. Louis, who are tied for the division lead with 93 points. The Blackhawks boast points in their last five games, due in large part to goaltender Corey Crawford, who has gone 5-0-1 in his last six starts, and allowed two goals or less in all six starts.
Emmy Award-winning play-by-play commentator and Sports Illustrated 2014 Media Person of the Year Mike ‘Doc’ Emrick, U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame member Eddie Olczyk and Inside-the-Glass analyst and Emmy Award-winner Pierre McGuire will call have the call from Madison Square Garden in New York.
WEDNESDAY NIGHTCAP – KINGS-DUCKS – WEDNESDAY AT 10:30 P.M ET ON NBCSN
The defending Stanley Cup champion Kings face the Ducks on NBCSN’s Wednesday Nightcap, as Los Angeles continues to make its postseason charge. Los Angeles (34-22-13, 81 pts) has gone 5-1-1 in its last seven games to move into the final Wild Card spot in the Western Conference, and has allowed only five goals in its past five games. Jonathan Quick has posted two shutouts in his last three games, including a 1-0 victory over Arizona last night.
Anaheim (44-20-7, 95 pts) currently leads the Western Conference and is tied with New York for best record in the league. The Ducks have won back-to-back games against Minnesota and Nashville. Three of the four games between Anaheim and Los Angeles have gone to overtime; Anaheim earned the only regulation victory between the two teams, a 4-2 decision on Feb. 27.

NHL GAME OF THE WEEK – BLUES-RED WINGS – SUNDAY AT NOON ET ON NBC
The Blues and Red Wings face off in NHL Game of the Week this Sunday on NBC, as both teams continue to battle for division titles. The Blues (44-20-5, 93 pts) have gone 6-3-1 in their last 10 games to tie the Nashville Predators atop the Central Division, including a 3-0 victory at Dallas on Sunday night. Vladimir Tarasenko leads the club with 69 points, including seven points (3g/4a) in his last seven games.
Detroit (38-19-11. 87 pts) enters the week following a 5-1 victory against the Penguins in the NHL Game of the Week last Sunday on NBC. In that game, recently-acquired defenseman Marek Zidlicky recorded a goal and two assists, while Henrik Zetterberg found the back of the net for his team-leading 59th point.
Mike “Doc” Emrick (play-by-play), Eddie Olczyk (analyst) and Pierre McGuire (Inside-the-Glass analyst) will call the action from Joe Louis Arena in Detroit, Mich.
DUCKS-RANGERS – SUNDAY NIGHT AT 7:30 P.M. ET ON NBCSN
This week’s coverage concludes Sunday night when the Rangers host the Ducks in a matchup of the league’s top two teams. The Rangers and Ducks are currently tied for the most points in the league (95). In their only previous matchup this season, Rick Nash scored the eventual game-winning goal in the third period of a 4-1 Rangers victory in Anaheim.

SABRES-BRUINS – TONIGHT AT 7:30 P.M. ET ON NBCSN
The Bruins host the Sabres tonight at 7:30 p.m. ET on NBCSN, as Boston looks to solidify its playoff position in the Eastern Conference. The Bruins (36-23-10, 82 pts) have gone 7-1-1 in their last nine games, and are five points clear of Ottawa for the final Wild Card position. Milan Lucic has recorded seven points in his last eight matchups, including the game-winning goal in a 2-0 win at Pittsburgh last Saturday. The Sabres fell to Washington by a score of 4-3 in a shootout last night on NBCSN.

HOCKEY EAST TOURNAMENT – FRIDAY AND SATURDAY NIGHT ON NBCSN
NBCSN presents live coverage of the Hockey East Tournament semifinal and final this Friday and Saturday. Coverage begins with No. 4 UMass Lowell against No. 7 Vermont, followed by Jack Eichel and the top-seeded Boston University Terriers against the eighth-seeded New Hampshire Wildcats at 8 p.m. ET. Eichel leads NCAA Men’s Division I hockey with 61 points (20g/41a) in 34 games this season, and has recorded at least one point in 31 games.
The winners of those two games will face off to earn an automatic berth into the NCAA tournament on Saturday night at 7 p.m. ET on NBCSN.
