WEDNESDAY NIGHT RIVALRY
: RED WINGS AT RANGERS – WEDNESDAY AT 8 P.M. ET ON NBCSN

The Red Wings and Rangers face off for the first time in the 2014-15 campaign on Wednesday. Detroit has recorded a point in three straight games (2-0-1), and faces Ottawa tomorrow night before traveling to New York, while the Rangers host the Blues this evening.

If Howard and Lundqvist start in net on Wednesday night, fans will see an encore matchup of two impressive goaltending duels from the 2013-14 regular season. In January, Howard made 47 saves on 48 shots, but Lundqvist stopped all 38 Red Wings shots he faced in a 1-0 Rangers’ victory at Madison Square Garden. In March, Lundqvist stymied the Red Wings once again with 30 saves, as Chris Kreider scored twice on Howard in a 3-0 Rangers’ win. The Rangers have won the past four meetings against the Red Wings, including all three games between the Original Six foes last season.

Emmy Award-winning play-by-play commentator Mike ‘Doc’ Emrick, analyst Eddie Olczyk, and Emmy Award-winning ‘Inside-the-Glass’ analyst Pierre McGuire will have the call from Madison Square Garden in New York.

BLUES AT DEVILS – TOMORROW AT 7:30 P.M. ET ON NBCSN

NHL coverage this week begins tomorrow at 7:30 p.m. ET, as the St. Louis Blues visit the New Jersey Devils in an interconference matchup. The Blues have won four straight games, including a 3-2 victory over the Colorado Avalanche on Saturday night, and visit the Rangers tonight before facing the Devils on Tuesday. The Devils have won back-to-back games heading into tomorrow’s matchup against St. Louis, led by goaltender Cory Schneider, who has started all 11 games for the Devils thus far.

Dave Strader (play-by-play) and Pierre McGuire (Inside-the-Glass analyst) will provide live commentary from Prudential Center in Newark, N.J.

COLLEGE HOCKEY – (3) BOSTON COLLEGE VS. (5) BOSTON UNIVERSITY – FRIDAY AT 8 P.M. ET ON NBCSN

NBCSN’s coverage of the 2014-15 college hockey season continues with one of the most storied rivalries in the sport, when No. 3 Boston College hosts No. 5 Boston University in the “Green Line Rivalry” on Friday night at 8 p.m. ET. Boston University’s roster features freshman phenom Jack Eichel, who already leads all BU skaters with nine points (4g/5a) and a plus-9 plus-minus rating.

Boston College (4-2-0) enters Friday’s action following a series split against Denver last weekend, while Boston University (4-1-0) split a home-and-home series against Providence College. The Green Line Rivalry is the third most-played rivalry in college hockey, behind Michigan-Michigan State and Colorado College-Denver. Boston College has dominated the rivalry of late, winning 12 of the last 16 meetings between the two teams, although BU continues to hold a 129-119-17 edge in the all-time series.
