COMCAST SPORTSNET TO PRESENT EXCLUSIVE COVERAGE OF 39TH MARINE CORPS MARATHON ON SUNDAY, OCT. 26

90-MINUTE MARATHON-DAY SPECIAL LIVE FROM STARTING LINE, EXTENSIVE NEWS AND DIGITAL MEDIA CONTENT TO HIGHLIGHT COVERAGE  

Bethesda, Md. (Oct. 20, 2014) – Comcast SportsNet Mid-Atlantic will again serve as the exclusive television partner and present extensive multiplatform coverage of the 39th Marine Corps Marathon (MCM), which will be held Sunday, Oct. 26. The network’s coverage will be highlighted by a live 90-minute Marathon-day show and extensive news and digital media content.

Comcast SportsNet will air “Live from the Marine Corps Marathon,” presented by Navy Federal Credit Union and Hyundai, from the starting line in Arlington, Va., on Oct. 26 from 7 to 8:30 a.m. The program will be led by host Michael Jenkins, with analysis from retired U.S. Marine and award-winning combat journalist Chas Henry and reporting from Jill Sorenson. The special program will include interviews, behind-the-scenes access and live coverage of the official MCM start at 7:55 a.m. The program will also be available on video on demand services, depending on provider and location.

“Live from the Marine Corps Marathon” will feature several special guests, including actor Sean Astin, who will run his first Marine Corps Marathon, and Medal of Honor recipient retired Marine Cpl. William Kyle Carpenter, who will skydive into the MCM start and run for the Semper Fi Fund, a longtime MCM Charity Partner. Also scheduled to appear on the program are Gen. Joseph F. Dunford Jr., 36th Commandant of the U.S. Marine Corps, and Robert D. Cabana, the director of the Kennedy Space Center, a former astronaut and a retired U.S. Marine who will signal the start for hand cycle and wheelchair participants.

Comcast SportsNet’s digital media platforms, which are led by CSNwashington.com, will also provide extensive online content covering the MCM, highlighted by video coverage of runners crossing the finish line, which will be available following the race. In addition to race-day coverage, the network will deliver MCM preview segments and feature stories across its on-air and digital platforms leading up to the event.
