Inbee Park defends at the Wegmans LPGA Championship, the fourth of five majors on the 2014 LPGA Tour schedule. The PGA TOUR is in North Carolina for the Wyndham Championship; the final opportunity for players to qualify for the top-125 spots in the FedExCup points race to both earn their card for the 2014-15 PGA TOUR season, and become eligible to compete in the four-event FedExCup Playoffs beginning next week. Golf Central, Golf Channel’s signature evening news program is live and on-site this week at the Wyndham Championship, with Ryan Burr, Brandel Chamblee, Paige Mackenzie and Todd Lewis delivering insight and analysis from Sedgefield Country Club. NBC Sports Group will air the U.S. Amateur from storied Atlanta Athletic Club, with coverage on Golf Channel Wednesday-Friday and NBC Saturday-Sunday. Bernhard Langer headlines the field at the Dick’s Sporting Goods Open outside of Binghamton, N.Y., and the European Tour presents the inaugural showing of the Made in Denmark, the second-ever tournament on the European Tour schedule to take place in Denmark.

Park defends: Inbee Park defeated Catriona Matthew on the third playoff hole to win her third career major at the time, the second of three majors that she went on to win during the 2013 season.
Final showing in Rochester: This week’s event will mark the final edition of the Wegmans LPGA Championship outside of Rochester. Beginning next year, the tournament will evolve into the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship, held at Westchester Country Club in Rye, N.Y. next June.
Major showing for Americans: Three Americans – Lexi Thompson, Michelle Wie and Mo Martin – have won each of the first three majors contested this season; the first time that this has occurred since 1999. Wie however, is not in the field this week due to an injury to her right index finger.
Headlining the field: Stacy Lewis, Lydia Ko, Inbee Park, Suzann Pettersen, Lexi Thompson, Shanshan Feng, Karrie Webb, So Yeon Ryu, Cristie Kerr, Anna Nordqvist and Juli Inkster.

Final opportunity to qualify for FedExCup: This is the 41st and final regular season event of the 2013-14 PGA TOUR schedule before the FedExCup Playoffs begin. The top 125 in FedExCup points after the Wyndham Championship earn PGA TOUR cards for the 2014-15 season and qualify for the first of four playoff events at The Barclays next week.
