Golf Channel Sets up for PGA Championship Week with More Than 50 Live Hours of On-Site News and Expert Analysis

ORLANDO, Fla. (July 31, 2014) – In preparation for the men’s final major championship of the year, Golf Channel is dedicating more than 50 live hours of news, analysis, highlights, interviews, instruction and debate surrounding the 2014 PGA Championship, taking place Monday, Aug. 4 – Sunday, Aug. 10 at historic Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, Ky.

GOLF CENTRAL LIVE FROM THE PGA CHAMPIONSHIP: Headlining Golf Channel’s live coverage from the PGA Championship will be Golf Central’s Live From the PGA Championship wraparound news programming, which will feature all the latest news from Valhalla throughout the week. Ryan Burr, Rich Lerner and Kelly Tilghman will anchor Golf Channel’s Live From the PGA Championship telecasts from Valhalla, and will be joined by analysts Notah Begay, Brandel Chamblee, David Feherty, Steve Flesch, Arron Oberholser and Mark Rolfing. Todd Lewis and Steve Sands will provide reports from the field throughout the week, and John Feinstein, Rex Hoggard, Tim Rosaforte and Ken Schofield also will contribute daily. Reporting from a custom-built set overlooking the signature 13th hole at Valhalla, Live From the PGA Championship will provide comprehensive insight, analysis, breaking news and exclusive features on all of the storylines throughout the week.

MORNING DRIVE: Setting the stage each morning next week, Morning Drive will examine the key storylines of the PGA Championship. Morning Drive will expand on Wednesday to three hours to cover pre-tournament news conferences live from Valhalla, and will air for two hours Thursday-Sunday starting at 6 a.m. ET providing interviews, expert analysis and highlights. John Cook and Chris DiMarco will join hosts Gary Williams, Damon Hack and Charlie Rymer in-studio throughout the week.

PLAYER NEWS CONFERENCES: Morning Drive and Live From the PGA Championship will feature every scheduled player news conference staged from Valhalla Tuesday and Wednesday.

FEATURES: Throughout the week, Live From the PGA Championship will present compelling features showcasing the history of the PGA Championship, Valhalla Golf Club, and the best storylines surrounding the 2014 PGA Championship. A sampling includes:

John Daly One-on-One – Golf Channel’s Lisa Cornwell travels to her home state of Arkansas for a sit-down interview with fellow Razorback and 1991 PGA Champion John Daly, who is competing this week on past champion status.

Bob May Reflects on 2000 PGA Championship – Reflecting on what many consider to be the most dramatic playoff battle in PGA Championship history, Bob May sits down with Golf Channel’s Todd Lewis to recall his memorable week at the 2000 PGA Championship at Valhalla, highlighted by his playoff showdown against Tiger Woods. May also gives Lewis an inside look into his golf academies in Las Vegas and Hawaii, where he is grooming the next generation of professional golfers.

Valhalla Golf Club’s History and Legacy – John Feinstein examines the history and the business model of Valhalla Golf Club, owned and operated by the PGA of America since 2000. Feinstein talks with players and PGA of America executives on Valhalla’s success since opening its doors in 1986.

Course Architect Jack Nicklaus Talks Valhalla – Hall-of-Famer and course architect Jack Nicklaus breaks down all 18 holes at Valhalla in segments that will run throughout the week.

THE GOLF FIX: 2012 PGA Teacher of the Year Michael Breed will host a special edition of The Golf Fix instruction show on-site from the Valhalla driving range on Monday at 6 p.m. ET. Breed will be joined by players competing in the PGA Championship to discuss preparations leading into the men’s final major of 2014. Students from The First Tee of Louisville also will participate in the hour-long instruction show.
