EASTERN CONFERENCE’S TOP TWO TEAMS MEET AS SPORTING KANSAS CITY HOST COLUMBUS CREW SUNDAY AT 4 P.M. ET ON NBCSN

Stamford, Conn. – April 30, 2014 – NBCSN’s Major League Soccer coverage this weekend features last season’s MLS Cup champion Sporting Kansas City hosting Columbus Crew on Sunday at 4 p.m. ET.

Sunday’s match is the first of the season between the Eastern Conference’s top two teams, first-place Columbus and second-place Sporting Kansas City. Sporting, led by U.S. Men’s National Team midfielder Graham Zusi and defender Matt Besler, have beaten Columbus in their last 3 regular season matches.

COMMENTATORS: NBC Sports Group’s lead play-by-play announcer John Strong calls the match joined former U.S. National Team midfielder Kyle Martino. Comcast SportsNet New England and NBCSN analyst Dalen Cuff hosts studio coverage.

Strong on Sporting Kansas City vs. Columbus Crew: “Columbus shocked everyone by winning their first three games under new coach Gregg Berhalter, and in Federico Higuain Columbus possess one of the best playmakers in MLS. Sporting Kansas City are the defending champions of course, and in Graham Zusi and Matt Besler have two players who are not only key to a repeat title, but might be key for the United States in the World Cup next month.”
