Beware the “CupNappers”

NBC Sports Group and the NHL have collaborated to produce a new ad campaign for the 2014 Stanley Cup Playoffs with a strong digital component. “CupNappers” stars comedian Nick Kroll (The League on FX, Kroll Show on Comedy Central) and a cast of characters who conspire to steal the Stanley Cup. The spot debuts today (April Fools Day) online and will air on TV across NBC, NBCSN, NHL Network and many NBCUniversal cable channels.

As part of the campaign, a 90-second trailer is now running online and in movie theaters across the country. It features NBCUniversal personalities David GregoryJim Cramer, Carl QuintanillaJeremy Roenick and Kayla Tausche as they report on the stolen Stanley Cup.  The entire spot can be found on ProHockeyTalk here.

Premier League’s Manchester Derby Scores Digital Record

Last Tuesday’s Manchester Derby, in which Manchester City defeated its crosstown rival Manchester United, 3-0, was the best Tuesday Premier League game this season in key metrics, with 48,000 uniques, 53,000 visits and 113,000 live starts. It ranks in the top five Premier League games overall in uniques, visits, live starts and minutes (2.5 million).

Running Strong for the 2014 Boston Marathon

It’s more than just another run this year in Boston. The 2014 Boston Marathon will be held Monday, April 21, and CSNNE.com has launched “Running Strong,” a video blog featuring anchor/reporter Trenni Kusnierek. Kusnierek qualified to run last year but couldn’t due to an injury. Given the injury and last year’s bombing, Kusnierek is more determined than ever to run and is sharing her training stories and documenting her on-and-off course experiences here .
