SAN FRANCISCO, CA (March 3, 2014) – Comcast SportsNet (@CSNAuthentic), part of the NBC Sports Group and the online and on-air home of “Authentic Bay Area Sports,” today announced the full-time hiring of Joe Stiglich (@JoeStiglichCSN) as the network’s A’s Insider.  Stiglich, who has been an online and on-air contributor since August 2013, will continue to provide coverage across Comcast SportsNet’s growing list of multiplatform outlets, including CSNCalifornia.com’s “A’sTalk” section and SportsNet Central, Yahoo SportsTalk Live, A’s Pregame Live, A’s Postgame Live and other MLB related programming.  The announcement was made by Nancy Gay, Senior Managing Editor for Comcast SportsNet Bay Area and Comcast SportsNet California.

“Joe is widely known and well-respected as a versatile, credible and talented writer and reporter,” Gay said. “We’re thrilled that he’s joining our Comcast SportsNet team, and he will be an entertaining storyteller and trusted news source for the Oakland A’s and their fans.”

Added Stiglich, “I’m very excited to join Comcast SportsNet on a full-time basis. Being a Bay Area native, I’ve watched countless games from the Coliseum seats, and I’ve covered the A’s organization thoroughly as a beat writer for the past several years.  Now I relish the opportunity to take A’s fans in-depth with this team via CSN’s multiple platforms of coverage.”

Before he joined Comcast SportsNet on a freelance basis during the second half of the 2013 MLB regular season and postseason, Stiglich also provided freelance coverage for the Associated Press, MLB.com, and the A’s and Giants magazines.  Stiglich spent 12 years with the Bay Area News Group (2000-12), where he covered the A’s as a beat writer for six seasons (2007-12).  In addition, he was a Cal football beat writer (2011), a general assignment sports writer (2003-06) and a high school sports reporter (2000-03).

Stiglich, a native of Antioch, Calif., is a 1997 graduate of the University of California, Berkeley, where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Communication/Media Studies.  While at Cal, he was a staff writer for the campus newspaper, The Daily Californian.  He received his Master’s degree in Journalism from Arizona State University in 2000 and also worked at The Arizona Republic covering ASU athletic events and high school sports.

A’sTalk is under the banner of NBC SportsTalk, NBC’s successful digital franchise on NBCSports.com that includes ProFootballTalk, HardballTalk, ProBasketballTalk, ProHockeyTalk, CollegeFootballTalk and GolfTalkCentral.
