FOLLOWING ARE HIGHLIGHTS FROM TODAY’S NBCSN, CNBC, MSNBC & USA COVERAGE OF THE 2014 OLYMPIC WINTER GAMES IN SOCHI:

Johnny Weir on the men’s final figure skating warm-ups for the free skate: “These boys are flying around out here. Nobody is paying attention to anyone else. They’re all almost hitting each other. It is NASCAR out here in the world of rhinestones.”

Weir on Patrick Chan’s performance following Yuzuru Hanyu: “If you don’t have that motivation to win, if you don’t have the taste of blood, then you end up resting on your laurels.”

Tara Lipinski on Jeremy Abbott: “A lot of things would have to go right here for him to get a medal but it’s not about that. It’s about skating the Olympic performance you dream about and he’s doing it.”

Lipinski on Jeremy Abbott: “He tries to control his performance too much. He just has to let go.”

Mike Milbury Team Canada’s men’s hockey defense: “There are no limits – that’s the beauty of this defense. They cover all of the bases. It’s not just an offensive group, they can do it all…they have everything a defense corps should have, and then some.”

Pierre McGuire on Team Canada: “This team’s got so many different weapons it’s frightening – that’s why a lot of people think they’re a favorite to win.”

Keith Jones on Team Canada forward Jonathan Toews: “Toews is the complete package. There’s no question that not only does Sidney Crosby respect him, but the entire National Hockey League does, and so does the world based on how he played in Vancouver [in 2010].”

Milbury on Team Canada following 6-0 win over Austria: “I don’t think you can afford to be patient. This team was not very good against Norway, and there were some bumps in the road tonight…they’ve got to get it all figured out, sorted out, and the coach has to be bold enough to make those changes.”

Milbury on Sweden following captain Henrik Zetterberg being ruled out of remainder of Olympics due to injury: “This is one of the top half dozen players in the world. When any team loses a player of that caliber, it’s a broadside blow…I still think they’re going to be a great team, competitive, but I think this does their gold medal chances in.”
