CHIEFS-BRONCOS ON NBC’S SUNDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL IS MOST-WATCHED NOVEMBER PRIMETIME GAME IN 17 YEARS

 Most-Watched Primetime Game This Season With 26.9 Million Viewers    

NBC NFL Telecasts Rank as 5 of 10 Most-Watched Primetime Shows since Super Bowl

STAMFORD, Conn. – November 19, 2013 – Last week’s NBC Sunday Night Football game, featuring Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos defeating the previously unbeaten Kansas City Chiefs, 27-17, averaged 26.9 million viewers – marking the best primetime viewership for a November game in 17 years and a 48% increase over last season’s Week 11 SNF game (18.2 million viewers for Baltimore-Pittsburgh).

The previous best November primetime viewership was 31.5 million viewers for the defending Super Bowl-champion Dallas Cowboys’ 21-6 win over Brett Favre and the Green Bay Packers on ABC on November 18, 1996.

The Chiefs-Broncos SNF matchup easily won the week as TV’s most-watched primetime show, topping the No. 2 show by 39% (“NCIS,” 19.4 million), according to official live plus same day national data released today by The Nielsen Company.  Chiefs-Broncos is the most-watched SNF game this season (including the Thursday night opener), edging out the Oct. 20 Broncos-Colts game featuring Manning’s return to Indianapolis.

The Broncos’ victory – highlighted by Manning’s 323 passing yards and one touchdown — on Sunday Night Football (8:31-11:59 PM ET) also posted the week’s highest primetime rating (15.5/25) and a 9.9 rating in the Adult 18-49 demographic.

NBC NFL telecasts rank as five of the 10-most watched primetime television shows (based on live plus same day data) since the February 2013 Super Bowl.  Following are the most watched shows since Super Bowl XLVII:

NBC NFL games are averaging a 13.0 HH rating and 22.0 million viewers per telecast – the network’s best 11-week start since acquiring the SNF package in 2006.  In addition, SNF tops primetime in Adults, Men and Women 18-34 and 18-49 demos and Adults and Men 25-54.  SNF is also on record pace in the Women’s 18-49 and 25-54 demos.
