Following are excerpts from this week’s episode of NHL Rivals.NHL RIVALS – FLYERS-PENGUINS – TUESDAY,  11 P.M. ET ON NBCSN

NHL Rivals, which debuts this week on Tuesday at 11 p.m. ET on NBCSN, dovetails off of NBCSN’s Wednesday Night Rivalry, which Forbes dubbed “the hottest new brand in sports.” This week’s episode will feature the Philadelphia Flyers and Pittsburgh Penguins, two teams that have been rivals since entering the league in 1967.

Phil Bourque on beating Flyers in Philadelphia after 0-39-3 streak from 1974-1989: “It was unbelievable what that one victory did for us moving forward. As a team that year, in the early 90’s winning cups – I think now that when teams roll in to Philadelphia, they believe they can win every time they go in there. It’s everlasting, the hatred that we have for the Philadelphia Flyers.”

Flyers forward Scott Hartnell: “Mr. Crosby definitely won’t be the mayor of Philadelphia any time soon.”

CSN Philadelphia analyst Al Morganti: “What Sidney Crosby has done for this rivalry is beyond anything in sports. It was big enough to begin with, but he brought it to a boiling point.”

SI hockey writer Michael Farber: “The Philly-Pittsburgh series of 2012 was Hot Tub Time Machine hockey. You were suddenly back in the 1980s. It was just wild.”
