Now It’s Official: This week’s CIMB Classic marks the first FedExCup event in Asia. For the first time in the event’s four-year history, PGA TOUR members will receive official FedExCup points as part of the newly aligned 2013-14 PGA TOUR season.

New-look Field: The field increases from 48 to 78 this year with 60 players from the 2013 FedExCup list, 10 from the Asian Tour Order of Merit and eight sponsor’s exemptions.

Two-for-one: The PGA TOUR descends on Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club – the same site that hosted the Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia event two weeks ago. This week, the men will tee it up on the West Course, while the women played on the East Course.

Headlining the Field: Ernie Els, Sergio Garcia, Keegan Bradley, Bubba Watson, Rickie Fowler, Bill Haas, Nick Watney, Billy Horschel, Bo Van Pelt, Angel Cabrera and Graham DeLaet.

First Leg of the Final Series: This week serves as the opening event of the inaugural European Tour Final Series – the first of four events that will culminate with the Tour Championship in Dubai next month.

Golf Channel Debuts New Ad Format with “Playing Through”: Golf Channel is introducing a new side-by-side split screen advertising format this week as the Final Series begins. “Playing Through” will offer live coverage on the left side of the TV, while the commercial airs (with full audio) on the right side of the screen during the final two hours of the tournament broadcasts.

Scrambling to Make the Field This week’s tournament is the final opportunity to vault into the 30-man field for the season-ending Charles Schwab Cup next week in San Francisco.

Down to Three: With the conclusion of last week’s Greater Hickory Kia Classic at Rock Barn, only three players remain capable of winning the Charles Schwab Cup. Kenny Perry, Bernhard Langer and David Frost have a mathematical shot at winning the season-long prize at TPC Harding Park.
