Bigger Stage: With the wraparound schedule now in effect, the tournament now offers full FedExCup points and a substantially larger purse – $6 million this year compared to $4.5 million in 2012.

Past Champion Gary Koch Lead Analyst – Golf Channel on NBC analyst Gary Koch, winner of this event in 1988 (then known as the Panasonic Las Vegas Invitational), will serve as lead analyst for all four rounds of Golf Channel’s coverage.

Pro-Am Show Wednesday at 10 p.m. ET: Golf Channel will air an hour-long Shriners Hospitals for Children Open Pro-Am show, taking viewers inside the ropes to the preparations of the PGA TOUR professionals competing in the tournament.

Modified Course Layout: After getting hit with nine inches of rain in a three-hour span in late July this year, the tournament was forced to create a reconfigured course layout for the event. A combination of the Jones and Jackson courses will make up what will be referred to as the ‘Champions Course,’ playing to a par-70 versus the typical par-72 in previous years.

American Flavor: Americans Dustin Johnson and Bo Van Pelt are in the field. Johnson is teeing it up in western Australia for the first time in his career, while Van Pelt won the event last fall by two shots over fellow American, Jason Dufner.
