ORACLE TEAM USA Fights Off Four Straight Match Points by Winning Four Straight Races

Emirates Team New Zealand leads the America’s Cup Finals 8-5 Over

ORACLE TEAM USA

STAMFORD, Conn. — Sept. 23, 2013   After starting the regatta with a series of victories, and at one point holding a commanding 8-1 lead over defending America’s Cup Champion ORACLE TEAM USA, Emirates Team New Zealand  leads the America’s Cup Finals by a score of 8-5, and is still one victory away from winning the 2013 America’s Cup.

ORACLE TEAM USA has avoided elimination by winning four straight America’s Cup Finals races. In what would be the greatest comeback in the history of the 162-year event, the team can win the regatta with a win in all four of the remaining races.

Live coverage of the America’s Cup Finals will air today from 4-6 p.m. ET on NBCSN, beginning with Race 16. Should it be necessary, Race 17 will take place immediately following Race 16.

Veteran announcer Todd Harris will serve as the play-by-play commentator for the NBCSN telecast. Harris will be joined by former America’s Cup Helmsman and Volvo Ocean Race skipper Ken Read, as well as renowned sailor and author Gary Jobson.
