COMCAST SPORTSNET HIRES JEN LADA AS FULL-TIME REPORTER/ANCHOR FOR “SPORTSNET CENTRAL”AND ADDITIONAL ON-AIR/ONLINE INITIATIVES

Chicago, IL (August 26, 2013) – Comcast SportsNet, the television home for the most games and most comprehensive coverage of the Chicago Blackhawks, Bulls, Cubs and White Sox, today officially announced the full-time hiring of anchor/reporter Jen Lada as its newest on-air talent member for the network’s signature nightly sports news program, SportsNet Central.  Lada recently began her daily beat role on SportsNet Central’s team coverage of the Chicago Bears.  In addition to the Bears beat, Lada will also handle on-site, post-game reporting duties throughout the year at home games for all four of CSN’s pro team partners, along with general assignment reporting.  Plus, Lada will occasionally host viewer interactive studio segments on the network’s post-game shows, along with a variety of digital initiatives that will be showcased on CSNChicago.com.  Lada can be followed via Twitter via @JenLada.  The announcement was made by Kevin Cross, News Director for Comcast SportsNet Chicago.

“Since we brought her on board earlier this year, Jen has done an excellent job for us as a free-lancer and we couldn’t be happier now to welcome her experience and local sports enthusiasm to our network on a full-time basis,” said Cross.  “She will no doubt be a terrific full-time addition to our already solid on-air team.”

Before she joined Comcast SportsNet on a free-lance basis in late January of this year, Lada was a reporter/anchor at WITI-TV, the Fox affiliate in Milwaukee, WI (2006-2012), covering the Packers (NFL), Brewers (MLB), Bucks (NBA), Admirals (AHL), Wave (MISL), along with Marquette University, the University of Wisconsin-Madison, local high school athletics and a variety of human interest stories.

Prior to her stint at WITI-TV, Lada spent two years as a reporter/anchor at WREX-TV, the NBC affiliate in Rockford, IL (2003-05), covering the IceHogs (AHL), Lightning (CBA), Riverhawks (Frontier League), along with local high school athletics.  During her time with WREX-TV, Lada was promoted to primary anchor of the station’s 9:00 p.m. newscast and continued to deliver the nightly sportscasts, along with writing, shooting and editing feature stories.  Post-graduation, Lada spent a year working for the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel’s “Preps Plus” program (aired on WTMJ-TV in Milwaukee) as a high school sports reporter.

Lada, who grew up in the Chicago northwestern suburb of McHenry, IL, attended Marian Central Catholic H.S in Woodstock, IL, where she was a standout cross-country and track & field athlete.  She graduated with a degree in broadcast electronics from Marquette University’s College of Communications in 2002.
