STAMFORD, Conn. – June 27, 2013 – More than 70 million minutes of the 2013 Stanley Cup Playoffs were live streamed on NBC Sports Live Extra — the NBC Sports Group’s live streaming product for desktops, mobile devices, and tablets — according to Adobe Site Catalyst. The vast majority of Stanley Cup Playoff games this year were live streamed via “TV Everywhere,” the media industry’s effort to make quality content available to MVPD customers both in and out of the home and on multiple platforms. In addition, the NBC Sports Live Extra app, which was launched in August 2012, surpassed six million downloads on June 18.
For the first time, NBC Sports Live Extra streamed all Stanley Cup Playoff games — including the Stanley Cup Final — that aired on NBC, NBC Sports Network, and CNBC. Stanley Cup Playoff games also streamed to mobile devices and tablets for the first time.
For the entire playoffs, 70,633,853 minutes were live streamed, up 577% compared to last season (10,427,216 minutes) when 12 games were streamed, and up 2,159% vs. 2011 (3,126,562 for eight games).
