“My Life: Earl Campbell,” a 1-on-1 Interview Show, Debuts June 24 on CSN

Campbell Shares his Candid Story, In His Words, From the Highs of the NFL to the Lows of Addiction

HOUSTON– Comcast SportsNet Houston (CSN), a partnership between the Houston Astros, Houston Rockets and the NBC Sports Group, today announced the debut of “My Life: Earl Campbell,” a 1-on-1, 60-minute interview show hosted by CSN anchor and interviewer Steve Bunin.

This is his Campbell’s life, in his words, as you’ve never heard him before, exclusively on CSN.

During his career, Campbell set countless records that earned him induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1991. But the story of Campbell’s life truly began when his football career ended. The physical toll his body took playing the game gave way to an addiction to painkillers and alcohol, driving a depression that nearly killed him. It was only when his two sons intervened that Campbell was able to turn his life around.

In “My Life: Earl Campbell,” the former  running back shares the highs of the night he won the Heisman Trophy and the good times during the Houston Oilers “Luv Ya Blue” era, to the lows that led him to contemplate suicide with a ravaged body that left him addicted to alcohol and painkillers and nearly unable to walk.

“My Life: Earl Campbell,” debuts Monday, June 24 at 6:30 p.m. on CSN. An encore presentation airs that night at 10:30 p.m. Additional re-airs will run in the month of July.

Former Rocket John Lucas and boxing legend George Foreman are the next two scheduled subjects in the “My Life” series.
