CSN and Southland Conference Unveil 2013 Football Telecast Schedule

Regional Rivalries, 2012 Semifinal Rematch Highlight Southland on CSN Slate

HOUSTON– Comcast SportsNet Houston (CSN), a partnership between the Houston Astros, Houston Rockets and the NBC Sports Group, today announced its Southland Conference football broadcast schedule for the 2013 season.

Entering its second football season in partnership with the Southland Conference, CSN will televise five games as part of the 2013 Southland Conference package. Four games take place in Southland Conference stadiums, with an additional contest matching a pair of future Southland foes.

CSN starts with three non-conference games, kicking off on Sept. 7 with McNeese State hosting Arkansas-Pine Bluff. The second game of the TV schedule feature Texas Southern at Sam Houston State on Sept. 14. Eastern Washington visits Sam Houston State on Sept. 28 in a rematch of last year’s semifinal game in the NCAA championship, which was won by the Bearkats.

On Oct. 12, Abilene Christian faces Houston Baptist at BBVA Compass Stadium in Houston as part of HBU’s inaugural football season. The ACU Wildcats and HBU Huskies, who both join the Southland Conference July 1, don’t begin playing a Southland schedule until the 2014 season.

CSN concludes its Southland schedule with Central Arkansas at Lamar on Oct. 19.

“Southland Conference football is an important part of our fall lineup,” CSN Director of Programming Janice Schmader said. “We are delighted to continue our partnership with the conference for a second season and for the opportunity to provide top-level coverage of these games.”
