NBC SPORTS GROUP’S “NHL PLAYOFF PASS” – MAY 16
Conference Semifinal Doubleheader
NEW YORK – May 16, 2013 – “NHL Playoff Pass” on NBC Sports Group Press Box provides a quick daily overview of Stanley Cup Playoff coverage. It is published weekdays to preview the evening games. On Fridays, a weekend edition is posted.
NBC Sports Network will serve as the primary home for Conference Semifinal coverage, offering one or two games virtually every night. When necessary, CNBC will also provide live coverage in primetime. NBC will present exclusive afternoon coverage during the weekend of May 18-19, and a primetime game on Saturday, May 25, if necessary. TONIGHT, May 16
Coverage of the 2013 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs continues tonight at 7:30 p.m. ET when the Boston Bruins host the New York Rangers in Game 1 on NBC Sports Network. Dave Strader will call play-by-play with Emmy-award winning analyst Pierre McGuire (‘Inside-the-Glass’) from TD Garden in Boston, Mass.
Coverage continues at 10 p.m. ET with a California rivalry as the Los Angeles Kings take on the San Jose Sharks (Los Angeles leads 1-0). John Forslund will manage play-by-play and will be joined by analyst Joe Micheletti at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, Calif.
Coverage begins on NBC Sports Network at 7 p.m. ET with NHL Live hosted by Liam McHugh, Keith Jones and Chris Therien.
NBC Sports Group’s coverage of the 2013 Stanley Cup Conference Semifinals, through three games over two days, is up 40% in average viewership compared to two games last year (1,056,000 vs. 756,000). Last night’s game between the Detroit Red Wings and the Chicago Blackhawks was the most viewed game on cable of the 2013 Stanley Cup Playoffs so far with 1.45 million average viewers.
THE LEXICOLOGY OF MIKE ‘DOC’ EMRICK
Emmy-Award winning play-by-play voice Mike ‘Doc’ Emrick is renowned for his colorful descriptions of hockey.
