INAUGURAL NAVY-MARINE CORPS CLASSIC TO AIR FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 9 ON NBC SPORTS NETWORK

Coverage of Florida vs. Georgetown Begins at 9 p.m. ET Game To Be Played On Deck Of USS Bataan at Mayport Naval Air Station in Jacksonville

NEW YORK – Sept. 26, 2012 – The inaugural Navy-Marine Corps Classic, featuring the University of Florida Gators vs. the Georgetown Hoyas, will tip off on Friday, November 9, at 9 p.m. ET on NBC Sports Network. The game will be played on the deck of the USS Bataan, at Mayport Naval Air Station in Jacksonville, Fla.

The Gators, led by fifteenth-year head coach Billy Donovan, finished the 2011-2012 season 26-11 overall and tied for second in the SEC. Florida appeared in its 15th NCAA Tournament, advancing to the Elite Eight for the sixth time in school history and the second consecutive year.

The Hoyas, led by eighth-year head coach John Thompson III, finished the 2011-2012 season 24-9. Georgetown appeared in its 28th NCAA Tournament, advancing to the Sweet Sixteen.

The Navy-Marine Corps Classic is collaboration between the Department of the Navy and the City of Jacksonville to raise continued awareness for the military. Proceeds from the Navy-Marine Classic will go directly to benefit local military affairs efforts.

This year, NBC Sports Network will televise more than 50 college basketball games, the most in the channel’s history. A complete list of the 2012-2013 NBC Sports Network college basketball schedule is forthcoming.
