PBR KICKS OFF ON NBC THIS SUNDAY, 2:30 ET

NEW YORK – January 5, 2012 – The Professional Bull Riders open their 2012 PBR Built Ford Tough Series season this weekend from New York, N.Y., with the Madison Square Garden Invitational. Coverage on NBC begins at 2:30 p.m. ET this Sunday.

Veteran broadcaster Craig Hummer will provide the play-by-play, joined by nine-time World Champion and PBR co-founder Ty Murray. PBR Ring of Honor member J.W. Hart will be working on the chutes, and interviews will be handled by Marty Snider.

The Top-40 bull riders in the world will compete Friday and Saturday, but only the Top-10 riders with the highest point value proceed to the final round on Sunday. The overall event winner will be the rider with the highest combined score from all rounds.

Six PBR World Champions return to New York this weekend, including Silvano Alves (2011), Renato Nunes (2010), Kody Lostroh (2009), Guilherme Marchi (2008), Mike Lee (2004), and Chris Shivers (2000 and 2003).

New York is the first stop for the BFTS, which will make 29 stops in 23 states before the Built Ford Tough World Finals in October. The World Finals are where the PBR World Champion will be crowned and awarded the coveted Championship Buckle, along with a $1 million bonus.
