BOB COSTAS TO HOST LIVE TOWN HALLS & MONTHLY INTERVIEW SHOW FOR NBC SPORTS NETWORK

Town Hall Series Kicks Off with Costas Tonight: Live From the Super Bowl, Thursday, Feb. 2, 8-10 p.m. ET on NBC Sports Network Monthly Interview Show Costas Tonight To Debut Spring 2012 on NBC Sports Network

NEW YORK – November 9, 2011 – TheNBC Sports Group today announced that 22-time Emmy Award-winner Bob Costas will host quarterly live town halls, starting with Costas Tonight: Live from the Super Bowl, and a monthly interview show Costas Tonight beginning Spring 2012 to air on the NBC Sports Network.

 

The Costas Tonight: Live from… town hall series will tackle the prominent issues that continually emerge in today’s sports arena. The first in the series, Costas Tonight: Live from the Super Bowl, will feature some of the NFL’s biggest stars and newsmakers focusing on the state of the NFL, plus a preview of Super Bowl XLVI and the storylines from the NFL season. Costas Tonight: Live from the Super Bowl will air on the NBC Sports Network in front of a live studio audience from the Indiana Repertory Theater on Thursday, Feb. 2, 2012, 8-10 p.m. ET. Dates and topics for the remaining Costas Tonight: Live from… in 2012 will be announced later.

Costas Tonight is amonthly series featuring Costas, one of America’s preeminent interviewers, conducting in-depth, revealing interviews with leading newsmakers in sports and entertainment. This new program builds on Costas’ long and storied career as an interviewer from Later with Bob Costas and Costas Coast-to-Coast to his acclaimed HBO programs, On the Record and CostasNOW.

 

Costas Tonight will debut on Thursday nights in Spring 2012 on the NBC Sports Network, which will be renamed from VERSUS on Jan. 2, 2012.

ABOUT BOB COSTAS

 

Bob Costas, a 22-time Emmy Award winner, and one of the most respected and honored broadcasters of his generation, has been closely associated with NBC Sports for more than 30 years, since joining the network in 1980.  He has handled a wide array of assignments, including play-by-play, studio hosting and reporting and currently serves as the host of Football Night in America, and will host NBC’s Super Bowl XLVI pregame coverage from Indianapolis in February, 2012.

 

The 2012 London Olympic Games will be Costas’ 10th for NBC Sports and his ninth as primetime host, more than any other Olympic host.  After serving as late night host in 1988 from Seoul, Costas has won acclaim and Emmy Awards each year for his work as primetime host from Barcelona, Atlanta, Sydney, Salt Lake City, Athens, Beijing and Vancouver.

 

In 2005, Costas was named host of NBC’s Football Night in America, an exclusive and complete look at each Sunday in the NFL.  Football Night in America encompasses more than four hours of NFL coverage, including a primetime pre-game show and the premier primetime game of the week Sunday Night Football.  Costas also co-hosts NBC’s coverage of the U.S. Open, THE PLAYERS Championship, Ryder Cup, Kentucky Derby, Preakness Stakes, Belmont Stakes, NHL Winter Classic and the Stanley Cup Final.

 

Costas is also a studio host for MLB Network, serving as host for Studio 42 with Bob Costas, lead play-by-play announcer on Thursday Night Baseball and appears on MLB Tonight, Hot Stove and breaking news coverage.
